Planned Parenthood: Open Letter →

Breast cancer has ripped through my family so violently that I’m pretty much guaranteed to get it in a pretty nasty form down the road if I haven’t already managed to get mauled to death by rabid howler monkeys. But I have a good job, great health insurance, and an awesome doctor who is already helping me a lot with regard to prevention and early detection. A lot of women aren’t lucky...

My next new(s) gig: I’m heading to ABC News!
I’ve got some (more) news to share. Beginning next week, I’ll be working at ABC News, focused on the strategy and development of new products.
I feel lucky to have worked with an incredible, entrepreneurial team at The Wall Street Journal on projects like the launch of WSJ Social. I’ll miss this fantastic newsroom full of talented folks.
I couldn’t be more excited...

Regarding that 'Birchbox Man' holiday gift...
Maya: wait, field notes? seriously? so they can write about their feelings as they do their juice cleanses and take photos of their well-cleansed skin with sparklers?
Caroline: it's way too ambitious. all the guys I know need to start on a lower level. like with listerine and a hairbrush and some excedrin.
Maya: or just toilet paper
…in which me and @clayman (in a tux!) dance around all “dorky new yorky” (1:56)

Here it is - the video for “Raise Your Cache” from last week’s incredible RaiseCache event for HackNY. Note the ratio. There now, that wasn’t hard, was it?
Very proud of this, the product of many zany hours by myself and my co-producer Phil Di Giulio, co-founder of FrameSocket,...
Apple, pumpkin, or coconut creme?
True story.
Maya: i once won a pie eating contest
Maya: by turning it into a pie fight (true story)
Maya: ran up the roof to throw them down on people
Me: wow
Maya: i came down after i thought the coast was clear and got clobbered

I’m also making a fool of myself tonight on the runway. And I can’t see very well. So.

Support education and entrepreneurship in New York, and watch me make a fool of myself on the runway.
Seriously. I’m nervous already. There are going to be about a thousand people there and I am currently confronting this onslaught of stress with a giant plate of mac and cheese. Oh,...
I'm walking the runway for Raise Cache. Come! →
If you’re more than 8 feet away and I’m not wearing my glasses, you could be male, female or bear.
Which is why watching me walk down the runway for Raise Cache, sans glasses (can’t wear contacts), will likely not be boring. But don’t come for me - swing by for the good cause (and open bar)! Have you gotten your ticket yet?

I’m in a NASDAQ promo video for a photo hackathon I judged. Fittingly, I hadn’t slept for 24 hours at the time. Fitting for context, that is, but not necessarily for the camera (oy).
Video: Andy Samberg as Zuckerberg at #f8.
I have some news to share.
Today, I’m excited to unveil a project I’ve been working on over the last few months: WSJ Social, a standalone news publication on Facebook.
Having recently moved from startup hub San Francisco — where I mused about the future of newspapers in the app economy — to media hub NYC, where I now run new products for The Wall Street Journal, I’m excited to approach Facebook as a...

I covered another startup and its launch party! I found the startup lacking, and/or targeted toward people with $100 to spend on a single four-page travel itinerary!
It’s true who would be crazy enough to pay a writer $100 to write something. We can get that for free!
Yeah so I may have danced down the runway last night (around minute 9)

Instapaper Blog: Full API now available →

instapaper:
The full Instapaper API is now available for developers. See the Full API documentation to get started.
I’ve made an unusual decision for it that I’d like to explain. I was reluctant to make a full API before now for a few reasons:
Instapaper has nontrivial operating costs. If a large number…
Smart.

So who knows? Maybe psychologists, like quantum physicists, will have to deal...
– One of the most respected, senior and widely published professors of psychology, Daryl Bem of Cornell, has just published an article that suggests that people — ordinary people — can be altered by experiences they haven’t had yet. Time, he suggests, is leaking. The Future has slipped,...
